Description

The funding program launched by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is aimed at companies, universities, non-university research institutions, as well as, in selected modules, municipal authorities and other legal entities under public or private law. The objective is to implement international research and innovation projects on green hydrogen along the entire value chain. The modular structure includes networking, pilot, and collaborative projects, competence centers, as well as EUREKA cooperations. Project outlines can be submitted at any time via the electronic easy online system. The two-stage application process ensures targeted evaluation during the outline phase and subsequent development of formal funding applications.

A prerequisite for funding is the presence of a business establishment, branch, or other facility in Germany at the time of disbursement. Additionally, all modules require the involvement of at least one international cooperation partner with a letter of intent; in Module C, collaboration is based on a 2+2 approach with one German and one foreign university/research institution each, as well as one German and one foreign company each. In the EUREKA Module F, German SMEs are required to collaborate with partners from at least two other EUREKA countries. The funding rate ranges between 50% and 100% of eligible expenses, depending on the project sponsor. A bonus for SMEs as well as a project flat rate of 20% for non-commercial university projects complement the support. By promoting international networks, not only is technology transfer strengthened, but knowledge transfer between politics, science, and industry is also sustainably intensified.
