Description
The one-month international working residency in Rome is aimed at freelance artists of all disciplines with their main residence in Saxony-Anhalt. The goal is to continue the cultural dialogue between Germany and Italy in the tradition of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Max Peiffer Watenphul. During the stay in the historic premises of the Casa di Goethe on Via del Corso, the fellows can utilize the inspiring atmosphere of Rome for their creative work. In addition to a grant of €1,500, a mobility allowance of €500 is provided, as well as coverage of accommodation, travel, and international health insurance costs. The period is set from June 16 to July 14, 2026.
Applications are only possible online until February 9, 2026, and are directed at experienced artists with proven professional achievements (students are excluded). A complete application includes work samples, a meaningful letter of motivation, and proof of residence in Saxony-Anhalt. Selection is made by the foundation board with the involvement of the artistic advisory board based on the criteria of “artistic quality of the project,” “expressiveness of the work samples,” and “motivation.” The presentation of the results is planned following the residency period in an exhibition, providing the opportunity to present the work created during the residency to an international audience.
