Description
In Vorarlberg, municipalities have continuous access to funding for fire safety investments and expenses starting from 01.01.2023. Public institutions are granted a non-repayable subsidy to strengthen the operational capability and safety of fire service organizations throughout the state. Eligible expenses include, among others, the acquisition of sirens, fire water supply systems, two-way radios, and radio alerting systems, as well as fire service vehicles and firefighting, rescue, or auxiliary equipment. Furthermore, new constructions and renovations of fire stations, the establishment of corresponding infrastructure, and the procurement of service and protective clothing can be supported. The total budget amounts to €1.8 million, with the funding rate ranging between 14% and 75% of the recognized costs depending on the project scope.
Municipalities must comply with the legal provisions of the state of Vorarlberg and submit a confirmation of necessity and expediency from the State Fire Brigade Association. Applications for ongoing contracts up to a contract value of €50,000 must be submitted annually by August 31 of the following year. For individual cases with a contract value exceeding €50,000, a separate individual application is required. Required documents include the form “State Fire Brigade Fund for Fire Safety Expenses” with a cost breakdown, as well as, if applicable, supplementary applications for fire station or fire vehicle projects including a cost calculation sheet. This funding program makes an important contribution to the modern equipment of fire brigades and the sustainable improvement of disaster protection in Vorarlberg.
