Description
The funding program supports companies in the commercial sector with headquarters or operations in Bavaria in investments in innovative scale-up plants for the material use of renewable raw materials and biogenic residual and waste materials. The goal is to establish new value chains, strengthen rural regions, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40% compared to conventional processes. Both new plants and diversification projects of existing production sites or project shares with a high environmental and climate protection component are eligible for funding. The grant is provided as a non-repayable subsidy with a funding rate between 10% and 40% of eligible expenses, with increased aid intensities applying to small and medium-sized enterprises. Up to €8,250,000 can be applied for per project; the minimum investment is €250,000.
A prerequisite for funding is a demonstrated proof-of-concept at demonstration scale from technology readiness level TRL 8 onwards, as well as the use of at least 51% biogenic feedstocks. Application outlines must be submitted by June 1 and December 1 each year (at any time for projects in RmbH areas). The procedure is divided into an outline and an application phase: after a positive evaluation of the project outline, selected applicants will be invited to submit complete documentation. Required documents include, among others, a technical project outline, the financial statements of the last three years, and information on additional investment costs when funding under Art. 36/47 GBER. The measure is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and implemented by the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy in cooperation with the Government of Lower Bavaria.
