Investment Promotion for Student Dormitories and Cafeterias

The investment funding for student dormitories and cafeterias supports nationwide providers of public student accommodations and cafeteria operations in Austria with general renovations, new constructions, and targeted individual measures. The goal is to create a nationally coordinated and internationally competitive higher education and research environment in teaching and research. As a direct grant program, it contributes to realizing modern living and supply structures and sustainably improving the infrastructural quality of student housing. Since January 1, 2013, a budget volume of €0.14 million has been available, which can be continuously applied for until fully utilized.

Eligible for funding are public institutions, non-profit organizations, and private enterprises recognized as providers of student dormitories according to the Student Dormitory Act. Applications for general renovations, new constructions, or individual measures are accepted continuously, allowing flexible planning and implementation of projects. The legal basis is the funding guidelines for student dormitories pursuant to the Student Dormitory Act (Federal Law Gazette 291/1986 as amended). The responsible awarding authority is the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research, Department IV-1a. Interested institutions may submit their applications until the funding volume is exhausted, thereby making a significant contribution to improving the student living environment.
