Description
In Brandenburg, investments in the infrastructure of public local passenger transport (ÖPNV) on road and rail are generously supported. The guideline promotes construction, expansion, and major renovation measures as well as planning services for the preparation and implementation of transport projects. Eligible expenses include construction services, major renovation investments, regional rail access facilities, station buildings and interchange points, as well as accompanying planning services. Funding is provided in the form of grants or interest-free loans with funding rates between 20% and 100%, up to 90% in the railway sector. The minimum expenditure must be 50,000 euros. The goal is a noticeable improvement of traffic conditions, the consistent pursuit of the transport policy objectives of the state of Brandenburg, as well as economical and efficient planning with special consideration of barrier-free and inclusive standards.
Eligible applicants are municipalities, municipal task carriers, owners of station buildings, railway infrastructure companies, and public transport operators. A prerequisite for funding, in addition to compliance with the state objectives, is proof of own funds and assurance of follow-up costs over the period of earmarking. Special attention is given to the consideration of women, people with disabilities, families with children, and seniors. The measures must be registered in the year before the planned start of construction (by June 30) and – depending on the program – applied for by January 31 or March 31. The State Office for Construction and Transport offers supportive advice and accompanies registrations and applications.
