Description

The Fund for the Promotion of Scientific Research (FWF) enables financial support for seminar events in Vienna through the "Joint Seminars" program, which aims to foster scientific exchange with international researchers. Private individuals active in Austria, possessing the appropriate qualifications and sufficient capacity, and who have received FWF project funding within the last ten years, may apply for a grant at any time. Neither an academic degree nor Austrian citizenship is a prerequisite, and applications must be submitted exclusively by a single natural person. The funding facilitates interdisciplinary dialogue across research topics and innovations, further strengthening Vienna as an internationally attractive science location.

The funds can be used flexibly for the organization, planning, and execution of seminars that bring together outstanding scientists from around the world. The focus is on subject areas such as education and training, research & innovation, as well as basic sciences. Applications are submitted online via the FWF portal elane; optionally, the signed cover sheet may be submitted digitally signed. With the program’s openness and straightforward submission process, "Joint Seminars" promotes new collaborations and networks that sustainably contribute to the excellence of the Austrian research landscape. Interested researchers benefit from a continuously available funding instrument that intensifies international dialogue in Vienna and increases the international visibility of Austrian science.
