Journalism Funding – Schöpflin Foundation

Since 2010, the Schöpflin Foundation has been promoting a vibrant and independent media landscape and responds to the challenges of digital transformation with the journalism funding program. The institutions Publix, Media Forward Fund, and JX Fund are responsible for the funding initiative, jointly strengthening critical and public-interest journalism in Germany and in exile. Through multi-year, institutional grants, the program enables journalistic initiatives to develop innovative formats and build sustainable revenue models. Applications can be submitted at any time by non-profit organizations and companies nationwide, without fixed deadlines or competitive events.

The funding is aimed at journalists, public-interest media organizations, and media professionals in exile who contribute to the promotion of democracy and social cohesion through their work. A strong journalistic activity and an orientation towards the common good are prerequisites. The goal is to ensure comprehensive information provision, counteract disinformation, and support new projects. Through partnership-based support and financial assistance, the Schöpflin Foundation aims to lay the groundwork for long-term media innovations and sustainably promote the democratic public sphere.
