Description
The Rudolf Augstein Foundation supports talented students and doctoral candidates with a focus on journalism through a tailored scholarship. Over a period of up to 24 months, eligible recipients receive up to €1,000 per month to cover education costs and living expenses. The scholarship aims to enable aspiring journalists to pursue their academic and professional development independently of financial barriers, thereby strengthening quality and independence in quality journalism. A prerequisite is ongoing studies or a doctorate with the professional goal of becoming a journalist. Applicants are selected through a standardized, two-stage process and additionally benefit from training opportunities and networking events that provide inspiration for their future work.
Award decisions are based on criteria such as journalistic talent, intellectual and communicative skills, as well as commitment and motivation; doctoral candidates must also demonstrate scientific excellence. Funding is exclusively provided for education and training measures as well as living expenses. Deadlines for submitting application documents are published online in a timely manner; the current application round has already closed. Interested parties can find information on the application procedure and the required scope of the application directly on the Foundation’s website. The regular publication of deadlines ensures that dedicated journalists are informed early about upcoming application periods.
