Description
The program "Youth for Development Cooperation" supports selected young people and young adults from Brandenburg aged between 18 and 27 who have a training or study place and wish to actively engage in international development projects. Funded through resources from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MBJS) of the State of Brandenburg, the initiative promotes projects that enable exchange and cooperation in non-European developing countries. Grants of up to €1,300 are awarded to economically cover essential expenses such as travel costs (outbound and return journey), visas, vaccinations, insurance, accommodation, as well as preparatory and follow-up measures. The goal is to realize international youth projects based on solidarity and sustainable development.
The funding is aimed at both private individuals and non-profit organizations based in Brandenburg. Participants must present an invitation from the respective development project in a non-European country, with projects carried out in countries listed on the DAC list. This ensures that financial support is used within a clearly defined framework. The tailored grants provide the opportunity to cover travel costs and important expenses associated with international project work. Furthermore, the program promotes the exchange of ideas and builds a bridge between cultures by explicitly supporting reciprocal visits of project partners from the Global South to Brandenburg.
With this program, the North-South Bridges Foundation sends a strong signal for social cohesion and democratic participation. The targeted financial support enables young committed individuals to gain international experience and sustainably anchor it in exchange with fellow citizens in Brandenburg. Through intensive preparation and follow-up, the acquired knowledge and experiences are to be transformed into practical initiatives that strengthen development aid and global dialogue in the long term. Since applications can be submitted continuously and must be made at least three months before the start of the trip, this funding offers an ideal incentive for ambitious project ideas aimed at a fairer and more solidaristic world.
