Description

Youth Trains Mathematics is a nationwide open support program aimed at mathematically gifted students from the 7th grade onwards. The goal is the targeted preparation for prestigious competitions such as the Federal Mathematics Competition and the Mathematics Olympiad. Over a period of ten months, young talents are introduced to challenging problems, familiarized with new solution strategies, and encouraged to engage in professional exchange with like-minded peers. Participation is by recommendation of the state representatives for mathematics competitions, with a successful placement in preceding school competitions as a prerequisite. Enrollment is possible annually from April and can be done continuously.

The program is divided into two coordinated modules: the correspondence circle and intensive seminars. In the correspondence circle, participants receive four to six subject-related letters with in-depth tasks, whose completed solutions are commented on and evaluated by mentors. From grades 8/9 onwards, a four-day weekend seminar complements the offering, where experienced instructors teach mathematical fundamentals and advanced techniques. At the end of each seminar, an exam is held, the results of which are included in the overall evaluation. The best qualify for the next cycle or further competition rounds. Through the combination of regular supervision, independent work, and collegial exchange, a motivating environment is created that sustainably strengthens mathematical talents and prepares them for higher competition levels.
