Description
The "Youth Team of the Month" honors outstanding youth teams twelve times a year at the German Football Museum. The initiative is managed by the DFB Foundation German Football Museum gGmbH, which, in cooperation with adidas, recognizes one youth team each month from the G-Youth to the U23 level. Selected teams receive a complete adidas jersey set for 14 field players and 2 goalkeepers, as well as free admission for players and supervisors on the day of the award ceremony in Dortmund. Additionally, team memorabilia such as pennants, trophies, or team photos are permanently integrated into the museum exhibition, thereby honoring team spirit and the development of young players in a central football cultural institution nationwide.
Applications can be submitted by associations of interest or registered clubs whose youth teams are organized under the German Football Association. A specialist jury makes the decision at its discretion based on submitted photos and memorabilia. The prerequisite is an online application by the 15th of the month before last, which must include high-quality team photos, information about the club and applicant, as well as one or two exhibition items. Each team may apply once per calendar year. Evaluation criteria focus on team spirit, sporting development, and the quality of the submitted materials. This regularly available sponsorship measure sustainably supports club work in the youth sector and grants the youth teams special public recognition.
