Description

Juke Boxx: New Music Award annually honors pioneering compositions at the intersection of contemporary music and media art. Organized by the Christoph and Stephan Kaske Foundation, the international prize is aimed at composers and video artists who link acoustic and visual elements into a coherent video production. With a total sum of €4,000, the jury rewards outstanding audiovisual works up to twelve minutes in length. In co-productions, the prize is split equally among the participants, emphasizing the collaborative nature of the competition. The award particularly recognizes innovation, the quality of audiovisual integration, as well as the originality and topicality of the submissions.

Interested artists may submit a single work electronically, composed after January 2022. Required are a description of the composition and visual techniques, a link to common video platforms, and proof of identity via a scanned or photographed ID card. A brief biography including date of birth, as well as information on involved performers and, if available, the location of the performance or recording, complete the application documents. The independent expert jury, consisting of composers, video artists, and specialized editors, decides on the award after the submission deadline. Through continuous calls for entries, the Juke Boxx: New Music Award provides a consistent platform for promoting and showcasing innovative media art in a musical context.
