Description

The Jung Fellowship for Medicine of the Jung Foundation for Science and Research supports outstanding medical doctoral candidates in Hamburg during their one-year full-time research as part of their doctorate. With a funding amount of €15,000 (€1,250 per month), the scholarship primarily covers living expenses and enables undisturbed focus on the dissertation project. A prerequisite is that the doctorate begins in the summer semester 2025 or winter semester 2025/2026 and that the dissertation has not yet been started at the time of application. The program is limited to a maximum of ten participants and opens for applications until March 31, 2026.

The selection is made by the Foundation’s Scientific Advisory Board, which evaluates the quality of the project description and a three-minute presentation in the final round. The following documents must be submitted for the application: personal data, a detailed description of the doctoral project (max. 450 words), a concise project title line (max. 150 words), a brief rationale for the topic (max. 60 words), a tabular CV (PDF, max. 1 page), and a letter of recommendation from a person authorized for the doctoral procedure (max. 1 page). The fellowship is specifically aimed at individuals seeking an intensive research phase in Hamburg and wishing to advance their scientific career in the fields of health, innovation, and continuing education.
