Description
The project funding "Young Art and Culture / Children and Youth Culture" of the Hamburg Cultural Foundation is aimed at freelance artists and cultural workers in their early professional years as well as professional artists who realize projects for and with children and young people. Innovative and experimental initiatives in the fields of visual arts, performing arts, music, literature, film, photography, and interdisciplinary formats are supported. The foundation also supports cultural educational offerings that emerge and are presented within Hamburg's independent scene. Eligible to apply are individuals and non-profit organizations that implement their projects locally. The maximum funding amount is 15,000 euros, with both personnel costs and material expenses eligible for reimbursement. Ongoing operating costs, renovation measures, or non-project-related expenses such as catalogs and sound recordings are excluded from funding.
The selection is based on the criteria of quality and professionalism, emerging artists, experimental approaches, as well as educational effectiveness within the target group of children and youth. Three fixed deadlines per year (February 15, May 15, and September 15) ensure a structured application process via an online form. Required are a detailed project description with concept and schedule, a detailed cost and financing plan, meaningful work samples, as well as the fully completed application form. Projects must begin at least four months after the deadline to allow for thorough review and planning. The foundation sees itself as a partner of young artists and makes an important contribution to the promotion of contemporary culture and cultural education in Hamburg.
