Description
The Karl Foerster Recognition within the Peter Joseph Lenné Prize honors outstanding competition entries by young landscape architects, planners, scientists, architects, and artists from Berlin. With a total sum of 1,500 €, projects are awarded that demonstrate particularly high-quality and site-appropriate plant usage. Participation in the design competition for garden and landscape architecture, urban green planning, or landscape planning including nature conservation is a prerequisite. Evaluation focuses especially on the ecological and design integration of vegetation according to abiotic and biotic site factors, as well as the creative use of plants as an integral element of open space design. Through this recognition, innovative planning ideas are promoted that enhance urban spaces and strengthen natural transitions between the city and its surroundings.
The award procedure targets private, professionally ambitious emerging talents who wish to contribute with their entry to the development of sustainable open spaces. The Karl Foerster Foundation thereby signals its commitment to promoting innovative concepts in the fields of environmental/nature conservation, urban development & urban renewal, energy efficiency & climate protection, as well as infrastructure & urban planning. The call for entries takes place in odd-numbered years; deadlines are announced by the Senate Department for the Environment, Transport and Climate Protection Berlin. Through targeted support, the honored participants receive not only financial backing but also public recognition for their design and ecological solutions.
