Description

The Karl Newman Sponsorship Award annually honors employees of the State Theater Cottbus who significantly contribute to the success of the institution through excellent artistic or technical achievements. Named after Karl Newman, grandson of the foundation’s founder Max Grünebaum, the award recognizes outstanding commitment in the fields of culture, music, as well as education and training. The Max Grünebaum Foundation, as the awarding body, primarily supports dedicated private individuals from Brandenburg with this distinction, thereby strengthening the cultural profile of the region. Through its continuous annual presentation, the sponsorship award provides ongoing opportunities for creative and technically skilled theater staff and contributes sustainably to the promotion of emerging artistic talent.

Eligibility requires active employment at the State Theater Cottbus and a nomination by the theater management to the board of trustees of the Max Grünebaum Foundation. The decision is based on the outstanding quality of the artistic or technical work and the demonstrable contribution to the overall success of the theater. The award includes a study trip to Great Britain, with travel and accommodation expenses covered. This provides the recipients not only with recognition of their achievements but also with a valuable opportunity for professional and intercultural development. This combination of acknowledgment and support positions the Karl Newman Sponsorship Award as an important catalyst for professional and personal growth within one of Brandenburg’s most significant theater venues.
