Description

As part of the nationwide available childcare cost subsidy, socially disadvantaged students in the final phase of their studies receive financial compensation for incurred childcare costs. A subsidy of up to €150 per month per child is granted, which can be applied for on a semester basis and lasts at most until the end of the semester following the last receipt of study allowance. Prerequisites include enrollment from the third semester onward, an age under 41 years, and receipt of study allowance or a graduation scholarship, or a household income of the spouse of no more than €21,800 in the previous calendar year. Furthermore, no completed degree must be held – except for a master's program following a completed bachelor's degree – and employment is suspended during the grant period or, in the case of study allowance receipt, subject to an additional income limit.

Eligible expenses include costs for kindergarten, crèche, childminder, or school afternoon care, as well as associated meal and craft contributions. Applications are submitted using the form SB 11a to the locally responsible scholarship office and require proof of the incurred costs. Since the application must be submitted after each completed semester, timely submission by the end of the semester is essential. The aim of this measure is to relieve student parents who wish to successfully complete their studies despite childcare obligations. The authority responsible for approval and payment is the study allowance authority, which provides comprehensive information and forms online without links.
