Description
Kindness for Kids supports nonprofit organizations, foundations, and educational institutions nationwide in organizing smaller conferences, symposia, or training sessions for knowledge transfer and networking in the field of rare diseases. Up to five projects are funded annually with a grant of up to €2,000 each; the focus is on the targeted communication of current research findings to affected parents and self-help groups. Through intensive exchange between scientists and participants, new collaborations are intended to emerge and the quality of care for families sustainably improved. Applications can be submitted at any time, provided the event location is in Germany and the project initiative has demonstrated nonprofit status.
The selection decision is based on the content relevance for those affected, the design of the networking approach, as well as the practical feasibility and cost appropriateness of the planned event. Required are a meaningful project description, a detailed financing plan, and proof of nonprofit status. With a funding rate of 100%, Kindness for Kids enables organizers to present research findings in an understandable manner and make them directly accessible to affected families. In this way, self-help is strengthened and interdisciplinary dialogue between science and practice is promoted – an important prerequisite for advancing innovative approaches in diagnostics, therapy, and counseling.
