Film Funding

The film funding of the State of Vorarlberg supports a total of five small cinemas in the region in the years 2019 and 2020. The aim of these direct grants is to secure ongoing operating costs as well as the implementation of necessary renewals to ensure a diverse and high-quality cinema program. Funding is provided to legal entities and natural persons from the business sector who operate or manage a small cinema in Vorarlberg. The budget of a total of 0.2 million euros is available until the funds are exhausted; thus, the application deadline effectively ends when the funds are depleted.

Only operators of small cinemas whose municipalities contribute an annual minimum amount of 5,000 euros are eligible to apply. Eligible expenses include, on the one hand, covering ongoing costs – such as personnel, technology, and licensing fees – and, on the other hand, necessary renewal measures such as infrastructure modernizations or the acquisition of technical equipment. The funding commitment is made in writing and is based on the General Funding Guidelines of the State of Vorarlberg (AFRL).
