Description

The Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony supports creative initiatives in rural regions of Saxony through the Small Projects Fund by granting straightforward subsidies ranging from 500 to 5,000 euros. The aim is the sustainable revitalization of the local cultural landscape and the strengthening of civic engagement. Private individuals, associations, non-profit organizations, companies, and foundations based in the Free State may submit applications on an ongoing basis, with only one project funded per applicant annually. Funding is primarily provided for cultural events – from theater performances and concerts to workshops and exhibitions – that are publicly accessible and achieve significant reach. Priority is given to projects that promote local engagement and expand the regional cultural offerings.

Requirements include residence or company headquarters in Saxony, project implementation in a rural municipality, and submission at least six weeks prior to the project start. All verifiable expenses related to the project – from material costs and fees to necessary acquisitions – can be funded at 100%. Upon positive approval, a simple usage report with a narrative and list of receipts must be submitted. Disbursement of funds occurs within the framework of a fixed-amount financing; a personal contribution is desirable but not mandatory. The processing time is usually six weeks, and approved amounts must be drawn by December 1 of the respective year. This fund provides local actors with quick and uncomplicated access to funding to bring creative ideas to life in rural areas.
