Description
The Climate-Kita Network of S.O.F. Save Our Future – Environmental Foundation connects educational institutions, non-profit and public organizations nationwide with the goal of integrating climate and resource protection into everyday daycare routines. Educational professionals and management in daycare centers, trainees in early childhood education, as well as daycare providers gain access to a modular program: training sessions convey practical methods and materials, action weeks open child-appropriate approaches to questions of energy and food supply, and networking meetings as well as specialist days provide opportunities for all participants to exchange sustainable alternatives for action. The program is complemented by selected “Co-Kitas” that share their successful practical examples nationwide, thereby inspiring multipliers and educational partners. Continuous support assists participating daycares in implementing their climate protection activities and promotes the exchange of experiences through an action diary.
With funding from the Environmental Foundation, daycares continuously have the opportunity to specifically strengthen education for sustainable development, environmental protection, and energy efficiency. The Climate-Kita Network promotes the development of climate-friendly everyday practices and raises children’s awareness of global interconnections. Registrations and participation are possible at any time, allowing the network to flexibly respond to the needs of individual institutions and to grow steadily. As a nationwide project, it supports not only direct practice in daycares but also the training and further education of future professionals and qualifies multipliers for embedding climate protection in early childhood education.
