Description

The focus of this model project is the development, testing, and dissemination of holistic approaches for energy- and resource-efficient, health-promoting construction. A particular emphasis is placed on innovative timber construction concepts, sustainable circular economy strategies, and integrated planning processes. The goal is to optimize buildings throughout their entire lifecycle in terms of energy consumption, material use, and indoor quality. The funding initiative supports exemplary pilot projects that document the effectiveness of passive cooling, plus-energy and CO₂-neutral buildings, or sufficiency strategies. Also supported are the further development of planning methodologies and digital tools, as well as the testing of new recycling and lightweight construction methods to significantly reduce embodied energy and emissions.

Eligible for funding are companies, public and non-profit institutions, as well as educational providers with headquarters or operations in Germany. In addition to providers of timber construction solutions, clients, planning offices, approval authorities, and specialist companies are eligible, as well as educational initiatives that involve children, adolescents, and trainees in innovative participation formats. A prerequisite for application is the submission of a project outline and a complete application including comprehensive cost and financial planning, CVs of those involved, as well as a sustainability and dissemination concept. The expert evaluation is based on criteria such as degree of innovation, lifecycle perspective, replication potential, and effectiveness of educational measures. Continuous submission is possible, allowing timely project implementation even without a fixed deadline.
