Description

The initiative Komm zur Kultur – Travel Cost Subsidies by the Carinthian State Government is aimed at educational institutions in Carinthia and supports excursions to professional museums, theaters, and galleries. Kindergarten groups, schools, and after-school groups can apply for reimbursement of travel expenses for public and private transportation of up to 200 euros per visit. For a one-way distance of 50 km or more, a maximum of 200 euros is available; for shorter distances, up to 170 euros. The objective of the measure is to reduce financial barriers, strengthen cultural education, and spark early interest in art, culture, and media. Funding is continuously available from November 1, 2025, and covers the funding areas of culture, education, children and youth, vocational training, as well as labor and social affairs.

Applications are submitted after the visit to the respective cultural institution and require the submission of a fully completed and signed application form, a confirmation of the visit, and the corresponding transportation invoice. A 100 percent cost coverage is possible, provided the submitted expenses comply with the guidelines; multi-day package tours are excluded. There is no legal entitlement to funding; disbursement occurs after positive review, as long as funds are available in the cultural budget. Funding can be used up to twice annually per class group. Since there is no fixed deadline, applications are processed continuously. This straightforward funding option motivates educational institutions to more strongly integrate cultural venues as extracurricular learning sites into their curricula and leisure activities.
