Description

The program supports municipal authorities in Thuringia in the implementation of sustainable transport infrastructure projects to significantly improve conditions in everyday traffic. Measures in road construction, pedestrian and bicycle traffic, as well as public local passenger transport, are funded. Through a non-repayable grant, the State of Thuringia contributes to relieving inner-city road networks, strengthening safe pedestrian and bicycle paths, and increasing the attractiveness of bus and rail systems in public local passenger transport. Thus, the funding makes an important contribution to reducing emissions, enhancing traffic safety, and strengthening climate-friendly mobility options.

Eligible applicants are municipalities, independent cities, districts, and their associations. A prerequisite is that the project contributes to improving traffic conditions, complies with environmental and nature conservation regulations, and aligns with local or regional transport planning. Economic efficiency, structural and traffic-technical soundness, as well as the implementation of accessibility, are also funding requirements. The two-stage procedure requires the project to be formally registered by March 31 of the year preceding the project start and the complete application to be submitted by October 31 of the year before construction begins. The award is made by the Thuringian State Office for Construction and Transport on behalf of the Thuringian Ministry of Infrastructure and Agriculture. Technical documents, checklists, and forms facilitate the preparation of a complete application.
