Description

Within the framework of a state program, cross-border cooperation between nature conservation authorities, agricultural interests, and municipal actors in Schleswig-Holstein is promoted. The goal is the implementation of the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas as well as national and regional biodiversity strategies. Funding is provided for organizational and coordinating activities as well as for the development of concepts for land protection, accompanying environmental education, professional consulting, and public relations. Legal entities under public and private law that take the lead in regional cooperations and act as project sponsors can receive grants covering 90 to 100 percent of eligible expenses. The project duration can be up to 60 months, and applications are submitted on the cut-off dates of February 15, May 15, August 15, and October 15.

With a view to supporting regionally anchored Local Actions, the program offers financial assistance for personnel costs, rental expenses, and the initial establishment of an office. Grants also cover material costs, consulting services, as well as measures for public relations and environmental education. Applications require a detailed project description, a territorial management concept, a financing plan, proof of a conservation task anchored in the statutes, and documents on existing cooperations. Selection is based on criteria such as securing the conservation status, integration into Natura 2000, innovation, and public impact. Interested applicants can find detailed information at the Ministry for Energy Transition, Climate Protection, Environment and Nature of the State of Schleswig-Holstein.
