Funding objective
The funding aims, on the one hand, to support the transfer of findings from basic research towards economic application, and on the other hand, to intensify research performance in the field of high-quality scientific research through the involvement of companies with international networks in very early phases of industrial development. At the same time, the overall goal is to inspire and engage people in research, technology, and innovation (RTI).

- Permanent establishment or branch in Austria at the time of disbursement
- Civil law partnership (GesbR) not eligible to apply
- Presentation of the benefits of foreign partners in consortium projects
- Proof of financial security of the project through cost, time, and financing plan
- Proof of economic viability (no ongoing insolvency proceedings)

Description
The focus of the funding program is the strengthening of a broad-based R&D&I ecosystem in Vienna, which promotes the transfer of knowledge from basic research into economic applications while simultaneously advancing high-quality scientific research. The thematic areas addressed include Research & Innovation, Science, Education & Training, as well as Digitalization. Project-oriented collaborations between research institutions and companies, the establishment of excellent, internationally oriented research centers, high-quality technology and infrastructure projects, as well as measures for the development and expansion of qualifications across all educational levels are supported. Special attention is given to attracting and promoting girls and young women for R&D&I professions, as well as strengthening equal opportunities and diversity in research and technology.
Eligible to apply are companies, non-profit organizations, and public institutions based in Austria; in the case of consortium projects, a foreign partner may be included provided that the main consortium leader has a branch in Austria. Approval requires, among other things, a clear cost, time, and financing plan, proof of economic viability, and proof of the existence of a business establishment at the time of disbursement. From 01.01.2024 to 31.12.2026, a total volume of approximately EUR 241 million is available. Electronic applications are submitted via the FFG cockpit, ensuring a swift and transparent process and making a decisive contribution to the further development of research, technology, and innovation in Vienna.
