Description
The funding initiative Circular Economy in Vienna supports companies, social enterprises, and non-profit organizations in both capital and non-capital measures to increase resource efficiency and close material cycles. Grants ranging from 40% to 60% promote investments in facilities, equipment, as well as planning and consulting services. The goal is to protect the environment and health by reducing primary resource consumption, using low-pollutant secondary raw materials, circular design, reuse, and recycling. The development of sustainable business models that support shared use and strengthen regional value creation is also a focus. Eligible projects range from pilot and demonstration plants to sorting and processing technology, as well as studies and expert reports, with up to €10 million available per project.
Applications can be submitted continuously from February 24, 2025 until the budget is exhausted. Requirements include a minimum investment of €50,000 (€20,000 for socio-economic enterprises), official permits, and a registered office in Vienna. Necessary documents are the application form, project description, detailed cost estimate, and proof of professional qualification. Selection is based on criteria such as degree of innovation and environmental impact, technical feasibility, and economic efficiency. This funding instrument is aimed at companies of all sizes, especially SMEs, and seeks to introduce new impulses in urban circular economy and establish sustainable business models in the long term.
