Artists Helping Artists

The aid initiative for active artists enables older artists in retirement to live a dignified life at the Hilde Wagener Artists' Home in Baden. With an annual funding amount of €54,500, care places are financed that are specifically tailored to the needs of this target group. The initiative is aimed at the cultural and media sector in Vienna and seeks to ensure the quality of life of former stage, visual, and performing artists. Through the one-time grant, the care capacities at the Artists' Home are maintained, enabling ongoing support within the framework of the city council-approved aid initiative.

The target group primarily includes active artists who live in retirement as pensioners and depend on assisted living arrangements. A prerequisite for the grant is that services are provided exclusively within the framework of the "Artists Help Artists" initiative, which is managed by the Cultural Department of the City of Vienna (Municipal Department 7). Applications can be submitted at any time and are not subject to any deadline restrictions. Upon approval, payment is made directly to the Hilde Wagener Artists' Home in Baden. The open-ended funding option offers reliable support to facilitate the participation of long-serving artists in cultural life in old age and to preserve their dignity.
