Description
Cultural Economic Film and Media Funding Mecklenburg-Vorpommern serves to strengthen and further develop the audiovisual cultural economy in the state. MV Filmförderung GmbH supports innovative projects in all phases – from concept and project development through production initiatives to distribution, marketing, presentation, and exhibition. Both low-interest loans and earmarked grants are available. Furthermore, the program funds serial formats, festivals, qualification measures, and investments in regional cinema infrastructure. A qualitatively fundable project outcome as well as a regional effect of 100% – meaning expenditures in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern equal to the requested funding amount – are central prerequisites. Television usage rights must revert to the applicants after five to seven years in case of TV participation. A preliminary consultation with MV Filmförderung GmbH is mandatory before submission.
Eligible for funding are companies, interest groups, associations, and private individuals as well as authors, producers, distribution and sales companies, festival organizers, cinema, and exhibition venue operators in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Applications for concept development, project development, production funding, as well as distribution, marketing, and presentation can be submitted online on fixed dates: January 29, May 7, and October 1, 2026. Small projects up to €5,000 (talent promotion, industry events, exhibition) can be applied for on March 12, July 23, and November 12, 2026. Festival funding runs until November 15, 2025, while the cinema investment program accepts applications year-round. Decisions are usually made eight to ten weeks after the deadline. Interested project sponsors can find further information and application documents on the MV Filmförderung GmbH website.
