Description
Art is Class – Sparda Südwest Foundation offers school classes of all age groups from Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland a free experiential day in the foundation’s art space in Saarbrücken. Participants gain a vivid insight into contemporary art through artistic experiments and hands-on work with various materials. Afterwards, small groups deepen their understanding during a museum visit to the Modern Gallery, supported by a specially developed app that links traditional art appreciation with digital elements. The cooperation with the Saarland Ministry of Education and Culture, the Saarland Education Campus, and the Saarland Cultural Heritage Foundation ensures expert guidance and age-appropriate mediation. Dates for 2025 are already fully booked; bookings for 2026 are temporarily suspended.
Eligible for funding are educational institutions that submit a request via email including desired date, school name, grade level, number of participants, and contact details. In addition to the free project day, travel expenses up to a maximum of €500 will be reimbursed upon submission of appropriate receipts. The continuously bookable dates offer teachers the opportunity to experience art in a practical and interactive way. Through the third-party funding provided by the Sparda Südwest Foundation, cultural education in schools is sustainably strengthened. Interested educational institutions can apply for an available date at any time by providing the required documentation and will subsequently receive all further information regarding travel cost reimbursement and the program day’s procedure.
