Description
Noise Protection Measures on Existing ÖBB Lines supports Carinthian municipalities in the planning and construction of noise barriers, noise protection embankments, as well as object-related measures such as soundproof windows, doors, and acoustic ventilation systems. The program's goal is to reduce the impact of railway noise from existing ÖBB rail lines in Carinthia and to comply with the emission limit values according to the guideline. Public institutions are entitled to apply for a non-repayable grant, whereby the entire cost share of the municipalities (planning and construction costs) is covered 100% by the state's Noise Protection Fund. The funding is valid from February 22, 2025, and is granted until the available volume is exhausted.
Interested municipalities must demonstrate that the applicable emission limit values are exceeded and that a building permit for the object was issued before January 1, 1993. A prerequisite for funding is a positive cost-effectiveness assessment, the conclusion of an agreement between ÖBB, the State of Carinthia, and the affected municipality, as well as timely application submission and processing according to the guideline. Eligible expenses include planning services, the construction of noise barriers and embankments, as well as object-related measures on buildings. For application submission, construction plans with zoning proof, acceptance or building permit decision, details on windows, doors, and acoustic ventilation systems, a declaration waiving other public funds, and a current land register excerpt are required. ÖBB-Infrastruktur Bau AG reviews the documents and confirms eligibility for funding with a grant of up to 100% of the recognized costs.
