State Construction Award

The Carinthian State Building Award honors outstanding contributions to building culture in Carinthia and is awarded biennially by the Carinthian state government. It recognizes projects that impress through high architectural quality, efficient energy use, environmental protection, and successful urban integration. This highlights buildings that excellently shape the artistic architectural space as well as functionality and the use of contemporary building materials. The continuous call for submissions allows entries as long as the completion of the object does not date back more than three years. The goal is the sustainable promotion of planning and construction processes that respect the local character while simultaneously meeting modern requirements for energy efficiency and environmental protection.

Eligible to apply are all natural and legal persons, including planners, architects, contractors, and clients, as well as municipalities, non-profit organizations, and public institutions. For submission, an informal application with plan representations, project descriptions, and meaningful photographs must be submitted in printed form as well as on CD-ROM. All documents must include the project title, names of project participants, planning and execution period, completion date, and a precise location description including the address. The jury evaluates based on criteria such as architectural space, urban context, planning quality, construction execution, energy efficiency, and environmental compatibility. Multiple submissions are only permitted if a project has previously been deferred by the expert jury. With the announcement of this award, the state of Carinthia promotes the further development of a future-oriented building culture and honors outstanding achievements in the Carinthian region.
