State Funding for Helicopter Rescue of Fallen Animals

The state funding for helicopter recoveries of fallen animals in Carinthia supports companies in the removal of deceased animals from difficult terrain due to recovery operations. The aim of the program is to ensure proper disposal in terms of general hygiene, water protection, and disease prevention. Only the costs for the helicopter deployment are funded, which is used when conventional recovery with standard recovery equipment is not possible and no special permit from the district administrative authority exists. The subsidy amounting to 75% of the incurred recovery costs is paid directly to the contracted flight company. The funding instrument has been in place indefinitely since 01.01.2014 and can be continuously applied for as soon as the need arises.

Eligible are animal owners and companies in Carinthia who require helicopter deployment for the recovery of deceased animals from difficult terrain conditions. A prerequisite is that it is not a live animal recovery and that the deployment is commissioned by the responsible municipality based on the most favorable offer. For the application, a completed FAX template and the invoice from the respective contracted flight company are required. With this funding, the state of Carinthia strengthens animal welfare, promotes energy efficiency, and contributes to climate protection by reducing travel times and avoiding complex earth mobilizations.
