Description
The State Nature Conservation Award of the Baden-Württemberg Nature Conservation Fund Foundation honors outstanding commitment in nature conservation-oriented grazing projects aimed at preserving and maintaining the cultural landscape in the state. Eligible for the award are non-profit associations, working groups, collectives, as well as individuals who effectively strengthen nature conservation through innovative concepts. Applications for ongoing or already completed grazing projects from Baden-Württemberg are possible until July 1, 2026, provided they are not based on a legal obligation. An independent jury composed of representatives from environmental, agricultural and forestry sectors, science, and socio-cultural institutions evaluates, among other criteria, the level of innovation, the effectiveness for nature conservation, and the voluntary engagement of the participants.
The award, endowed with a total of 30,000 euros, will be divided among several recipients. The application must include compliance with the participation conditions, the completed application form, a detailed project description, and relevant documentation. Projects supported are those that combine practical feasibility with a tangible added value for climate and species protection. Following selection by the Foundation Board, the award ceremony will take place in spring 2027. Interested organizations and individuals can find all necessary documents, including the application form and data protection information, available for download on the Foundation’s website. Thus, the State Nature Conservation Award supports pioneering grazing initiatives that secure habitats of valuable animal and plant species and strengthen social cohesion in rural regions.
