Description
The state program Economy 2021–2027 for energy optimization in educational institutions as well as youth work centers in Schleswig-Holstein offers attractive funding for projects that reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The program targets non-profit educational institutions and public facilities aiming to implement measures to increase energy efficiency. Among others, measures to improve thermal insulation, optimize heating and ventilation technology, and integrate renewable energies are supported. With grants that generally cover 40% of eligible expenses and can be increased up to 80% if additional state funds are available, a significant financial contribution is made towards sustainable renovation.
Eligible are particularly institutions of general, political, and cultural education as well as youth work centers that operate as legal entities under private or public law with full-time management. As part of the funding, detailed documentation must be submitted, such as an energy assessment of the current state, a well-founded renovation concept, and proof of the expected energy savings. Further requirements include compliance with the Building Energy Act (GEG) and proof of a minimum own contribution of 10% of the total costs. The evaluation of projects is based on clearly defined criteria, including the comprehensible calculation of energy savings and the implementation in a sensible, building-physics optimal sequence of measures.
The initiative not only supports the ecological transformation of the institutions but also promotes a long-term, sustainable transformation in the regional education and youth sector. In particular, the energy optimization measures contribute to reducing primary energy consumption and minimizing the ecological footprint. The funding as a non-repayable grant facilitates the sponsors in preparing and implementing necessary investments. Furthermore, nationwide and regional networking of the sponsors enables an exchange of knowledge that continuously advances the improvement of energy efficiency in the German educational landscape. Interested institutions can obtain detailed information about the specific funding requirements and procedures to lay the foundation for a forward-looking and sustainable development.
