Description
The state of Salzburg and the city of Salzburg have established a permanent working group for the management and financing of the Salzburg State Theatre to sustainably fulfill its educational mandate in the fields of performing arts, music, and literature. As a public institution, the theatre is supported by a regular grant, which is disbursed in the form of deficit coverage contributions and investment subsidies. In addition to preserving classical theatre traditions, a special focus is placed on promoting contemporary productions. Targeted funding enables both the continuation of theatre operations and the realization of technical and structural modernizations. Payments are made in monthly installments, while extraordinary investment subsidies are approved upon authorization by the theatre committee.
The recipients of this funding measure are the Salzburg State Theatre as an institution, as well as performing artists, directors, artistic professionals in secondary occupations, and stage, workshop, and administrative staff. A prerequisite for funding is the approval of the budget and staffing plan by the theatre committee as well as the adoption of the state budget by the Salzburg state parliament. Furthermore, confirmation of the financial statement by the theatre committee is required. To be submitted are the budget plan approved by the theatre committee and – in the case of investment subsidies – corresponding receipts or the final accounting. The application deadline has been open-ended since October 1, 2013, allowing for flexible and continuous project planning in the field of culture & media.
