Description

The LEADER Brandenburg program supports the sustainable development of rural areas in the period 2023–2027, funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and coordinated by the Ministry of Rural Development, Environment and Consumer Protection Brandenburg. The goal is to strengthen regional identity and quality of life in all municipalities through local development strategies. Funding is provided to local action groups (LAGs), municipalities, non-profit organizations, small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as private individuals. Projects range from regional management to non-investive measures such as concepts, information and networking services, to investive initiatives in public infrastructure, cultural heritage, sports, leisure, and community facilities. A regional budget enables small projects to promote civic initiatives.

Funding is granted as a subsidy ranging from 40% to 90% (regional management) or up to 80% (investive and non-investive) of eligible expenses, and up to 65% for regional economic projects. The maximum annual grant amounts to €200,000. Eligible expenses include personnel costs, material and construction costs based on unit costs (e.g., €2,775/m² gross floor area for accommodation buildings, €365/m² for outdoor facilities), external planning and consulting costs, as well as IT hardware and software. Excluded are operational maintenance, replacement acquisitions, real estate purchases, livestock inventory, or research projects. Applications must be submitted online by 30 June 2027 to the State Office for Rural Development, Agriculture and Land Consolidation. A positive vote from the respective LAG, membership or a private-law agreement, and proof of total financing are prerequisites. Funding documents, guidelines, and application forms are available on the websites of the MLEUV and the LELF.
