Description

The scholarship program Teaching Profession Mentoring in STEM in Baden-Württemberg and Bremen is aimed at young STEM talents interested in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology who wish to explore the teaching profession. Initiated by the Foundation of German Business (sdw) and supported by partners such as the Vector Foundation, it offers both idealistic and material support already during upper secondary school as well as in the transition to teacher training studies. The goal is to inspire students graduating in summer 2026, 2027, or 2028 to discover their strengths and to enter this versatile and socially relevant profession with motivation. Mentors from the circle of teacher training students accompany the participants individually and promote orientation, subject knowledge, and personal development through workshops, academies, and digital formats.

The program awards a monthly scholarship of 25 euros and supports participants with personal mentoring, networking opportunities, and participation certificates. Eligible are private individuals residing in Baden-Württemberg or Bremen, with a grade point average of at least 3.0 in STEM subjects and a maximum application age of 20 years. Evaluation criteria include motivation for the teaching profession, STEM grade average, and indication of the graduation year. Applications are open annually from March 15 to July 5. The program enables an intensive engagement with teacher education and provides reliable support on the path to a dynamic professional environment shaped by digitalization and climate change.
