Description
Teaching with Matura is aimed at apprentices aged 15 to 19 who wish to complete a vocationally relevant matriculation examination. Funded by the Federal Ministry for Women, Science and Research, Department of Adult Education, the program subsidizes preparatory courses for the vocational matriculation examination in Vienna. The goal is to sustainably strengthen the educational biographies of young professionals and to create a better connection between vocational training and general university entrance qualification. Sponsoring organizations in the federal states cooperate with training companies to ensure needs-oriented support. The measure increases both the performance level and promotes equal opportunities and gender equality in education.
The funding is provided in the form of a grant, which can be claimed up to five years after the completion of the apprenticeship final examination. A valid apprenticeship or training contract or the passing of a partial examination before the final apprenticeship exam is required. Applications can be submitted continuously, as the funding opportunity has been unlimited since February 2013. Educational institutions and public sponsors can submit applications to the responsible state sponsors upon meeting these requirements. Thus, the program comprehensively supports apprentices in preparing for the vocational matriculation examination and opens up new perspectives for further academic or professional qualification.
