Description

The Performance and Funding Scholarship recognizes outstanding academic achievements nationwide at Austrian universities and universities of applied sciences. It honors students with above-average success and supports the realization of demanding scientific or artistic theses as well as project work. The grant is provided as a non-repayable subsidy, with amounts varying between €750 and €3,600 per academic year depending on the funding category. The program targets regular students who meet all the requirements for study allowance, with no assessment of social need. By acknowledging scientific excellence and providing financial relief, the qualitative and capacity-oriented objectives of the Study Funding Act are to be realized, and the number of degrees completed in line with the Bologna reform is to be increased.

The indefinitely available funding is reassessed annually and can be applied for a project duration of up to twelve months. Applicants submit the required documents directly to their home institution; deadlines and detailed criteria are set by the respective faculties. A central budget volume of €12.8 million guarantees comprehensive funding throughout Austria. The award is granted by official notice through the Education and Science Authority, represented by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research. Participants benefit not only from financial relief but also from an official recognition of their academic performance, which provides lasting impetus in their CV and academic environment.
