Description
The five-day, completely free workshop at the Lette Verein Berlin (January 26–30, 2026) offers a practical introduction to metallography and materials analysis. Participants disassemble real components under the guidance of experienced professionals from Germany and France to determine the causes of material failure in a modern laboratory. Both conventional microscopy and high-resolution techniques are employed. With safety briefings, guided tours, and interactive “LML Detective” sessions, students and prospective applicants gain a realistic insight into the daily work of metallographers and learn how materials are selected and tested for demanding applications in aerospace, automotive industries, or research.
The initiative is aimed at individuals interested in scientific and technical questions who are considering training as a Technical Assistant for Metallography and Materials Analysis. Online registration alone is sufficient for participation; no prior knowledge is required. The 100% funding covers not only course fees but also accommodation and meals in the Lette Verein cafeteria if needed. This allows participants to fully focus on discovering microstructural details and preparing for potential vocational training. This workshop creates ideal conditions to explore career prospects in STEM fields early on and lays the foundation for a well-informed decision regarding further professional qualification.
