Description

The conservation program “Radiant Seas of Blossoms – Wet Meadow Management” by the Nature Conservation Foundation in the Diepholz district advocates for the preservation of species-rich wet meadows in Lower Saxony. Mowing based on historical usage patterns (once or twice per season) as well as the complete removal of the cuttings create ideal conditions for rare flowering plants. The goal is to secure the species composition of these once widespread habitats in the long term and to preserve their characteristic, colorful floral splendor. Through the combined approach of environmental and nature conservation as well as energy efficiency and climate protection, a vibrant network of diverse meadow areas is created, ensuring the protection of sensitive orchids and other botanical rarities.

Eligible for funding are companies, private individuals, and non-profit organizations that own wet meadows in the Diepholz district or have corresponding management contracts. Funding is provided as an ongoing grant and can be applied for at any time. Eligible expenses particularly include the costs for maintenance and mowing work as well as for the transport of the resulting cuttings. This grant not only secures the necessary management of historical meadow areas but also contributes to the preservation of regional biodiversity. Interested landowners, farmers, and nature conservation associations thus receive practical support to maintain these vibrant wet meadows as valuable cultural landscapes and to sustainably strengthen ecological diversity in the district.
