Description
The literature funding of the Niedersachsen Foundation is aimed at non-profit organizations, foundations, interest groups, and associations based in Niedersachsen that wish to realize innovative literary events, reading series, or literature festivals. The focus is on encounters with contemporary literature and formats that open up new target groups – for example, readings in plain language or interactive event series. Funding is particularly provided for programs that present current authors, bring different literary genres (fiction, poetry, graphic novels, etc.) into exchange with the audience, and initiate places of literary production as well as media mediation projects. Support is provided as a grant, with a minimum application amount of 5,000 euros required. Decisions are made by the foundation’s committees (Secretary General, Administrative Board, Senate) at fixed dates several times a year.
Only project-related expenses are eligible for funding; scholarships, publications without direct project relevance, proofreading or editorial costs, printing subsidies outside funded projects, gap financing, ongoing general material and operating costs, as well as personnel expenses of the applicant are not funded. The application must include: a current exemption notice (not older than three years), the evaluation of the digital checklist on ecological sustainability, a detailed cost and financing plan, and a meaningful project description. Applications may be submitted continuously throughout the year. This funding measure aims to provide impulses for the literary scene in Niedersachsen and sustainably address diverse audience groups.
