Description
As part of lokal-sozial.genial – the school volunteer award of the Bürgerstiftung Paderborn – outstanding engagement initiatives from the school environment in Paderborn are made visible and honored every two years. The program aims to promote extracurricular volunteer projects at secondary schools (grades 5–13) and vocational schools and to intensify exchange with social institutions. Through financial support of up to €5,000 per winning project and the provision of practical experience, the participating students receive not only recognition but also motivation for future civic engagement. An independent jury evaluates the submissions based on their social added value, sustainability aspects, and school relevance.
All school initiatives based and active in Paderborn that submit a concept by April 30, 2026 are eligible to participate. Required are a completed application form, a meaningful project description, and – if available – a current tax exemption certificate. In addition to the ceremonial presentation of the volunteer award, all submitted projects will receive a participation certificate. The goal is to make social engagement visible, strengthen social cohesion, and inspire young people for democratic action. Interested educational institutions can find information on the application process in the guideline and submit their funding applications punctually to the Bürgerstiftung Paderborn.
