Description
The EU-funded innovation project aims at the development and testing of cost-efficient, energy-efficient, and user-oriented prefabricated solutions for the deep energy renovation of multi-storey existing buildings. Within a consortium of at least three independent institutions from different member states or associated countries, modular façade elements, insulation inserts, and technical system solutions will be designed, prefabricated in the factory, and tailored to the individual requirements of various building categories and materials within 36 months. To this end, the project partners will conduct an open market and potential analysis, organize Europe-wide market consultations, and submit a joint tender in at least three countries. The goal is to reduce the effort for assembly and logistics by at least 30%, decrease construction time as well as noise emissions and dust pollution below current best-practice values, while simultaneously reducing energy consumption by over 60%. Public and private building owners benefit from standardized processes, short drying times, and minimal disruption to residents.
In the testing phase, the approaches will be validated on three multi-storey buildings (> 5 floors) in different climate regions: a residential building in Southern Europe, an office building in Central Eastern Europe, and a mixed-use property in Northern Europe. The project partners will evaluate saw-tooth elements, integrated building services, as well as digital planning and assembly models to minimize disruption during renovation. With start-up funding of up to EUR 7 million per project and an EU funding rate of 70%, the Built4People-People-centric Partnership contributes to fulfilling the EU renovation goals: sustainable value enhancement of the building stock, reduction of CO₂ emissions, and strengthening trade and crafts in the European SME sector.
