Description

The luftsprung campus – Scholarship is aimed at young people with chronic systemic illnesses in Germany who are beginning vocational training or university studies. Within this nationwide open program, eligible recipients receive a monthly grant of up to 500 EUR for a maximum of 12 months to secure their livelihood during the educational phase. Aktion Luftsprung – Foundation for Chronically Seriously Ill Children and Adolescents aims to reduce financial burdens and strengthen motivated participants in their commitment to performance. Prerequisites for the grant include, among other things, proof of a chronic illness, a qualified school leaving certificate, and the confirmed commencement of vocational training or enrollment at a university. Engagement during the training or study period, as well as a role model function and financial need, are particularly valued in the selection process.

Applications are only possible in January and February each year and must be submitted via the foundation’s online form. Required documents for the application include a tabular CV, graduation certificates and volunteer service certificates, a current medical certificate with a letter of recommendation, as well as proof of enrollment or commencement of training. Additionally, a data protection consent form, a motivation letter (max. 7,500 characters), and proof of financial situation (BAföG, scholarships already received, etc.) must be submitted. Reapplication in the following year is possible. The award decision is made by an independent approval committee composed of affected individuals, medical specialists, and representatives of relevant associations. Funding usually starts in October and can be extended for another year with continued engagement.
