Description

M@S (Musical at School) is a funding program of the Stahlberg Foundation for comprehensive, upper secondary, and district schools in Hamburg as well as their partner schools in the metropolitan region. During a project week, four professional musical performers rehearse daily for five hours within the regular class schedule together with approximately 100 students from grades 5 to 10. At the end of the week, the school community presents the developed production to an audience. The goal is to sustainably strengthen the participants' self-confidence, creativity, and social integration through artistic challenges.

Schools are eligible to apply if they provide at least three rehearsal rooms and an auditorium including a stage, and contribute 50% of the project expenses (particularly the performers' fees). The project duration is one month, with the practical part taking place over five consecutive days. For the project weeks 2025 and 2026, educational institutions can submit their applications indicating their preferred musical and possible dates. Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant covering up to half of the eligible costs.
