Description

The Mathe.Forscher program of the Stiftung Rechnen promotes a discovery-based, investigative, and project-oriented approach to mathematics. Learners of all school levels become Math Researchers and independently gain experience with mathematical questions from their everyday lives – whether measuring dune movements, constructing hot air balloons, or conducting geometric analysis of the body. Educators take on the role of learning facilitators and draw on a nationwide network with scientific support, training sessions, and stimuli. Through practical learning projects, a sustainable access to mathematical content is created that transcends traditional subject boundaries and enables creative, interdisciplinary collaborations with art, history, sports, or music.

Mathe.Forscher is funded as a grant program by the Stiftung Rechnen. Eligible for funding are public and educational institutions throughout Germany that wish to implement exploratory mathematics learning in schools and classrooms. The offer is ongoing and equally targets school classes, teachers, and educational teams who want to strengthen existing resources with additional impulses. The goal is to increase the interest and competence of children and adolescents in the long term, as well as to provide teachers with professional support for innovative teaching formats. Participants benefit from scientific guidance and a broad portfolio of events, workshops, and digital learning materials to make mathematics tangible and motivating.
