Media Education (Press Foundation Baden-Württemberg)

The "Media Education" initiative of the Press Foundation Baden-Württemberg promotes initiatives to strengthen media literacy and democratic participation in the region. The goal is to provide orientation in the "information jungle" and to sharpen critical awareness of facts, fake news, and patterns of argumentation. Through interactive workshops, practice-oriented lectures, and debates, possible approaches to trustworthy communication are demonstrated, and constructive exchange between different social groups is encouraged. Journalistic professionals from print, radio, television, and online media visit schools, integration courses, and civil society forums to share experiences, raise questions, and jointly develop solutions. Ongoing funding enables flexible project implementation without application deadlines, allowing spontaneous ideas and collaborations to be realized.

Educational institutions, public institutions, and non-profit organizations based or operating projects in Baden-Württemberg that can demonstrate a clear connection to media education or democracy promotion are eligible for funding. Teachers, integration course providers, civil society initiatives, and journalists can apply for grants to realize innovative formats – from digitally supported learning environments to intercultural encounter projects. The Press Foundation provides straightforward application procedures and offers advisory support to applicants. In this way, the projects contribute in the long term to a more resilient information space and lay the foundation for an enlightened, dialogue-capable society in southwestern Germany.
